Asbestos

A mineral frequently used in residential and commercial insulation products that can easily separate into long, flexible fibers when disturbed. Asbestos fibers can become airborne due to deterioration, or damage during home remodeling or removal projects. Health is endangered when asbestos fibers are inhaled or ingested. Long-term risks from inhaled asbestos fibers include lung scarring. Lung cancer may develop many years after exposure to asbestos.
